JABAR EKSPRES – The European Union on Friday launched an 11th package of sanctions against Russia for its incursion into Ukraine.
The EU Council announced in a statement that it was launching “measures aimed at strengthening existing EU sanctions and cracking down on their circumvention.”
With the decision, the EU blacklisted 87 entities “directly supporting the Russian military and industrial complex” that should face tighter export restrictions on dual-use goods and technologies.
Included on the list are four Iranian companies that supply military drones to Russia, as well as companies from other countries that contribute to circumventing the trade ban.
The bloc also banned the transit of more EU-made goods and technologies that could be used for military purposes through Russian territory.

The EU extended a ban on the transportation of Russian goods to trailers and semi-trailers registered in Russia, and banned any vessels making ship-to-ship transfers from docking at EU ports.
The decision also revoked the broadcasting licenses of five media outlets with close ties to the Russian state.
Meanwhile the EU announced so-called “last resort measures” that could restrict trade in goods and technology to third countries if they are found to be “substantially and systematically” evading EU sanctions.
Previous sanctions targets included Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and banned imports of gold, oil and coal and exports of luxury goods and high technology, as well as excluding Russian and Belarusian banks from the SWIFT international payment system.
