JABAR EKSPRES – Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae Yong has confirmed that the Garuda team will field the likes of Asnawi Mangkualam, Marc Klok and Arhan Pratama in their FIFA Match Day clash against Argentina at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Monday.
However, Shin Tae Yong stated that defender Sandy Walsh was unable to play in the match due to a calf injury during a training camp (TC) in Surabaya last week.
“Our preparations are very good, and the condition of all the players is also good, except for Sandy Walsh who is recovering from an injury. Other than that, the rest of the players are in good condition,” Shin Tae Yong said in a press conference ahead of the match against Argentina on Sunday.
The former South Korean national team coach revealed that this match will be a tough challenge for the Red and White team, considering Argentina is the world’s number one ranked team and there is a considerable difference in ranking with the Indonesian national team.
“Although I experienced success with South Korea and defeated Germany in the 2018 World Cup, South Korea was ranked FIFA 50, while Indonesia is ranked FIFA 149. So, it will be difficult for us to win this match, and I am preparing it as an opportunity for the Indonesian players to learn and develop more,” Shin Tae Yong explained.
The coach who is often called STY stated that he and his team want to surprise in the match, although they don’t expect too much, and they leave it to the players who will take to the field.
“I want to surprise in this match, to be honest. But it’s not me who plays and surprises, it’s the players who will show their abilities on the pitch,” Shin Tae Yong said.
