JABAR EKSPRES – The Directorate of Film, Music and Media (PMM) of the Ministry of Education and Culture stated that poetry in audio-visual form is one form of effort to advance culture in the modern era.
“We are downstream to bridge the younger generation who are carrying out good practices in advancing culture, including giving space to poetry in this audio-visual form,” said PMM Director Ahmad Mahendra during a press conference at Sarinah, Central Jakarta, Friday (27/4) .
Efforts to promote culture in question have been stipulated in Law Number 5 of 2017, which contains efforts to promote national identity and character, cultural resilience, and cultural diplomacy.
“There are tangible cultural heritages (results of physical culture) and intangible (cultural values), so it’s not only in the form of wayang, but also the characters,” said Ahmad.
Ahmad also explained that in the past exhibitions like this were still considered strange and contemporary, but with the development of the modern era and digitalization, young people have returned to their liking. Because this has the goal of advancing the culture itself, actually experiencing the past and discovering the future.
Producer Mira Lesmana also expressed his appreciation for the support given by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the process of launching an audio-visual arts anthology entitled “Me, Chairil!” as a form of commemoration of National Poetry Day which falls on April 28.
“I express my appreciation to the PMM Directorate for trusting us and the media so that this video can be produced,” said Mira.
He added that Miles Film was an intermediary that succeeded in combining art and visual actors to interpret Chairil with the Ministry of Education and Culture.
A producer, Riri Riza, also said that the work was created to give poetry an approach to the younger generation in audio-visual form.
“What we have to do is believe. When we enter young people with the passion they have, young people will be more courageous and open with their feelings,” said Riri.
