Land Fires in Aceh Reach 13 Hectares, Firefighting Hampered by Lack of Water Sources

JABAR EKSPRES – The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Nagan Raya District, Aceh Province, reported that the area of land fires in several areas of the region reached 13 hectares.

Irfanda Rinadi, Acting Head of BPBD Nagan Raya, explained that the expansion of land fires occurred due to limited water sources at the fire locations, hampering firefighting efforts.

Some of the fire locations in Nagan Raya District are Sumber Bakti Village (Pulo Kruet), Darul Makmur Subdistrict, with an area of peatland burned reaching three hectares.

The fire in this location has been extinguished by about 90 percent, but the situation is still vulnerable to possible fires due to limited water sources for extinguishing.

In Kayee Uno Village, Darul Makmur Sub-district, Nagan Raya District, the area of land burned reached around six hectares. Meanwhile, in Lawa Batu Village, Kuala Sub-district, Nagan Raya District, the burnt land area is around three hectares, and the fire has been extinguished.

In Alue Ie Mameh Village, Suka Makmue Sub-district, Nagan Raya District, the burned land area was about one hectare and the fire had been extinguished by Friday night.

Irfanda Rinadi stated that BPBD Nagan Raya, along with a joint team consisting of six water pumping machines, is trying to extinguish fires in various locations in this area. The extinguishing team consists of BPBD Nagan Raya, Kodim 0116 Nagan Raya, Polres Nagan Raya, and PT SPS, said Irfanda Rinadi.
