JABAR EKSPRES – McDonald’s Indonesia is relaunching its “Taste of Japan” menu starting today, which was already available in 2020 and 2021.
The huge consumer interest in the “Taste of Japan” made McDonald’s Indonesia re-launch the Japanese-inspired menu.
“Many consumers have said, ‘bring back the Taste of Japan menu,’ so in 2023 we are bringing the menu back again,” said McDonald’s Indonesia Marketing Director Caroline Kurniadjaja during the launch event at the Salemba outlet, Central Jakarta, Thursday (6/16).
The “Taste of Japan” menu was first launched in 2020 to welcome the 2020 Japan Olympics. The menu available in “Taste of Japan,” includes the “Beef Yakiniku Tamago Burger,” “McSpicy Yakiniku Burger,” “Fish Fillet Yakiniku Burger,” “Spicy Nori McFlavor,” “Sakura Fizz,” “McFlurry Matcha Cookies or Oreo,” and “Yuzu Pink Waffle.”
In addition to “Taste of Japan,” McDonald’s also decorated several outlets in Indonesia with a Japanese theme, such as the Salemba outlet with an Osaka theme, the Kemang outlet with a Tokyo theme, and the newest restaurant that will open at the end of June with a Kyoto theme. In addition, employees at the three McDonald’s outlet locations also wear kimono clothes to emphasize the Japanese nuances there.
The restaurant, popularly known as McD, also collaborated with an Indonesian singer who won the “Nippon Television Nodojiman The World 2015” competition in Japan, Ica Zahra. Ica collaborated with McD Indonesia to release the song “Nihon Mo Fureebaa” to welcome the release of the new menu.
The song tells the story of one of the “Taste of Japan” menus, the Yakiniku Burger, and invites listeners to understand the thrill of listening to the Japanese song without having to know the meaning.
