JABAR EKSPRES – The leadership of the Surabaya City DPRD considers the Indonesian national team’s match against Palestine in the “FIFA Matchday” at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) on Wednesday (14/6) night to be a moment of solidarity to support Palestinian independence.
“Indonesia’s history records the international recognition of Palestine during the independence era. As a form of our solidarity, care and support, it is certainly a form of common humanity for our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” said Deputy Chairwoman of Surabaya Regional House of Representatives Reni Astuti in Surabaya, Thursday.
FIFA Matchday Reni admitted that she witnessed the Indonesian national team’s match against Palestine. The council leader supported Shin Tae-yong’s Garuda team against Makram Daboub’s Palestinian troops.

Considered to be one of the tough opponents, Reni believes that the Indonesian national team can perform optimally and win. For her, this is even more challenging due to Palestine’s higher FIFA ranking of 93rd, while Indonesia is ranked 149th.
Although not superior in rank, but the status of the host is expected to be used to Indonesia’s advantage when performing in front of thousands of fans who filled the GBT stadium.
“Talking about (ranking) Palestine does not discourage the mentality of playing the (Indonesian) national team, in fact we see it showing the dominance of the attack,” said Reni commenting.
The match was fierce, both Indonesia and Palestine were buying and selling attacks, both of them kept trying to break down the opponent’s defense and aiming for the first goal.
“The courage of the Indonesian national team to dominate the game I think deserves a thumbs up, some of the opportunities almost led to goals,” he said.
Until halftime until the final whistle signaled the match was over, Indonesia and Palestine had to settle for a score of glasses, 0-0 for each national team.
