Joan Mir to Miss German MotoGP Due to Injury

JABAR EKSPRES – The Repsol Honda racing team confirmed that its rider, Joan Mir, will miss the seventh round of the event in Germany, after suffering injuries from a crash in the French MotoGP, last weekend.

Quoted from the team’s official website, Wednesday, Joan Mir has undergone an MRI, and the results revealed a significant bruise on his right hand with synovial fluid and swelling that could limit the strength and mobility of his right hand.

“Considering the MRI results, Joan Mir will not participate in the German GP and is working through the recovery process with Dr. Juan Garcias, to evaluate the best treatment and recovery plan for his right hand injury, in order to return as soon as possible. He will not be replaced for the German GP,” the team said.

Meanwhile, another Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez, said he was aiming for a better result at the Sachsenring Circuit, a circuit where he has 11 wins in his last 11 appearances there.

Since 2010, the Repsol Honda Team has taken 11 wins at the Sachsenring. The 3.67-kilometer German track has waves with predominantly left-hand corners.

From 2013 onwards, Marc Marquez has been crowned “SachsenKing” with a string of achievements in Germany, including in 2021 when he took an emotional first win after an injury in 2020.

“When you’ve had a difficult weekend, the best thing that can happen is to go straight into the race – and this is what we had to do. We arrived at the Sachsenring, a track that I’ve always enjoyed and has been very successful for us,” Marquez said.

“Of course, I come wanting to do well, my focus and determination are 100 percent as always. There will be many challengers this year and we need to work well from the start and continue to work with Honda to improve further,” he added.
