Ministry of Industry: Need for Cooperation in Supplying Renewable Energy in “Eco Industrial Park”

JABAR EKSPRES – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) emphasizes the need for cooperation in supporting the availability of new and renewable energy (EBT) supplies to realize an environmentally friendly industrial area or eco industrial park (EIP).

Director of Industrial Territory of the Directorate General of Resilience, Territory and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry Heru Kustanto said that the support that needs to be provided to industrial estates in this case includes information regarding EBT installation policies in industrial estates, support for investments related to energy efficiency in the industrial sector, and other support related to technology.

“Therefore, cooperation between stakeholders is needed to support the fulfillment of energy consumption performance requirements, energy efficiency, and EBT development in EIP in Indonesia,” Heru said in a statement here on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage industrial estates to apply the concept of environmentally sound development (eco industrial park) in order to increase their competitiveness.

One of the efforts to realize this goal is by running the Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme-Indonesia (GEIPP-Indonesia) through cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

The EIP development program has an important impact on sustainable environmental preservation in the industrial sector. This is in line with Indonesia’s commitment to build a globally competitive manufacturing industry through accelerating the implementation of industry 4.0.

The requirements for EIP implementation also include regional management, environmental, social and economic aspects.

Until now, there have been three pilot projects of the Global Eco Industrial Park Program (GEIPP-Indonesia), including MM2100 Industrial Estate, Batamindo Industrial Estate and Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC).

With assistance through workshops and capacity building activities for more than a year to each manager of the three industrial estates held at the end of 2022, the performance of EIP implementation increased by 10 percent in Batamindo Industrial Estate and 1 percent in MM2100 Industrial Estate.
