Sean Gelael Had a Drama-filled Race at the 2023 24H of Le Mans

Jabar Ekspres – The WRT 31 team had to go through a drama-filled race in the continuation of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2023 LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2023 round at Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France, Saturday-Sunday (10-11/6).

The three riders who came down, namely Sean Gelael (Indonesia), Robin Frinjs (Netherlands), and Ferdinand Habsburg (Austria) were stranded to the bottom position until they rose to P3 before finally finishing in P5.

In this race, Sean was trusted to be the starting driver. He started the race commanded by NBA star LeBron James from 15th position.

On lap 1, an incident happened to Action Express Racing/Cadillac team driver, Jack Aitken, which made the Safety Car (SC) enter the track.

Sean Gelael and WRT 31 took advantage of this condition to enter the pits. They got the advantage because many other teams did not take advantage of the situation. This made Sean also briefly in P5.

Then some incidents happened again so it was the turn of the other riders to take advantage, so the position returned to normal. When he changed the wheel to Ferdinand Habsburg, the WRT 31 was in P13.

When the rain fell when the race entered three hours and the conditions on the circuit also entered dusk, several riders slipped because they had not had time to change tires with wet tires.

Of all the riders, Habsburg was the most unlucky. The Austrian racer twisted and hit the safety wall. He was forced to enter the pit to improve the condition of the car.

This made Habsburg stuck in the pits for a long time, considering that there was a lot to fix. So that when he came out the WRT 31 was two laps behind the leading riders in the LMP2 class.
