Regent: Dekopinda Helps Solve Cooperative Problems

JABAR EKSPRES – The Regent of South Solok, Khairunas, hopes that the local Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopinda) will assist the local government in solving cooperative problems in the area.

“I hope Dekopinda can provide coaching and guidance, both in disciplining cooperative management and institutions as well as improving the cooperative business itself, such as providing education and training opportunities for cooperative administrators in South Solok Regency,” he said during the inauguration of the South Solok Dekopinda board in Padang Aro, South Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province, Friday (6/9).

He asked the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs, as well as other related OPDs together with Dekopinda to take strategic steps and commit to fostering, guiding, and supervising the institutional and business management of cooperatives so that the institution makes a positive contribution to the community’s economy.

He said of the 128 Primary cooperatives in South Solok Regency, there were 69 active cooperatives and 59 inactive units.

The number of inactive cooperatives, he said, was because they had not held annual member meetings (RAT) for more than three consecutive years.

The cause of the RAT not being held, among others, is related to bad credit and unresolved government assistance accountability, as well as internal cooperative problems and conflicts.

He explained that cooperatives play a big role in economic progress because they target the general public.

For example, he said, during the New Order cooperatives controlled the Indonesian economy and even cooperatives have existed for a long time.

South Solok, he said, will receive Rp54 billion in assistance for People’s Business Credit (KUR) channeled to the community for cooperatives and MSMEs.

“The central government is still providing assistance to cooperatives to improve the economy,” he said.

Deputy Chairperson of the West Sumatra Dekopinwil Zilma Yusri said cooperatives would accelerate regional economic progress because they developed in the community.
