Pertamina Holds Emergency Response Simulation at SPBE

JABAR EKSPRES – Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Papua Maluku held an emergency response (PKD) simulation at PT Mega Gas Maluku’s LPG Bulk Filling Station (SPBE) in Ambon City, Friday (6/9).

The simulation illustrates the preparedness of SPBE workers during the loading and unloading of LPG from trucks to storage tanks. In the process, a leak was depicted, causing sparks that resulted in a fire.

SPBE officers swiftly took a light fire extinguisher (APAR) and sounded an alarm as a sign of emergency and warning officers in the SPBE area.

The fire resulted in an officer being hit by a burst of fire and fainting, then the victim was rescued and the fire was extinguished by the fire fighting team assisted by SPBE officers.

Sales Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Ambon Branch Wahyu Purwatmo said the simulation is routinely carried out at least once a year accompanied by the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) team from the Papua Maluku region.

“This activity must also be routinely carried out by the SPBE every six months, intended to recall the techniques and theories that have been taught by the HSSE function, in dealing with emergency conditions, especially fire hazard emergencies,” he said.

He said the main danger of SPBE facilities is fire.

He expects the routine training to make workers, operators, supervisors, and SPBE manager-level personnel more skilled in dealing with such emergencies.

The activity, he continued, is also proof that PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Papua Maluku Region cares and ensures that every facility, both SPBE depots and gas stations, and every individual understands how to overcome emergency conditions.

“This certainly gives Pertamina consumers confidence to be more confident that Pertamina products used by consumers or the public are products that are truly safe to use for their daily needs,” he said.
