JABAR EKSPRES – The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) recorded seven eruptions from the crater of Mount Anak Krakatau in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province.
The eruptions varied in height from 500 to 3,000 meters, starting from 00.00 to 24.00 WIB on Friday (6/9).
“The main crater smoke is white, gray, and brown with medium to thick intensity, about 25 to 350 meters high from the summit,” said Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post Officer Jumono in a report received by Indonesia Window here on Saturday (6/10).

A total of seven eruptions were accompanied by earthquakes recorded through a seismogram with an amplitude of 29 to 75 millimeters and an earthquake duration of 25 to 802 seconds.
PVMBG also recorded one low-frequency earthquake with an amplitude of 21 millimeters and an earthquake duration of nine seconds.
In addition, one local tectonic earthquake with an amplitude of 49 millimeters, S-P 4.1 seconds and an earthquake duration of 42 seconds, a continuous tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 2-51 millimeters, but the dominant one is 10 millimeters.
Mount Anak Krakatau is currently at level III or alert status with recommendations for people, visitors, tourists, and climbers not to approach the volcano or do activities within a five-kilometer radius of the active crater.
Since the birth of Mount Anak Krakatau in June 1927 until now, repeated eruptions have occurred so that Mount Anak Krakatau has grown bigger and taller reaching 157 meters above sea level.
The eruption character of Mount Anak Krakatau is in the form of explosive eruptions and effusive eruptions with an eruption break time ranging from 1-6 years.
These eruptions produce volcanic ash and incandescent lava and lava flows that slowly build the body of the volcano.

According to PVMBG, the nearest settlement is on Sibesi Island, which is 16.5 kilometers from Anak Krakatau Island.
