JABAR EKSPRES – Ducati Lenovo rider Francesco Bagnaia edged ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46) in the second free practice session (FP) of the Italian MotoGP at the Mugello Circuit on Friday.
The racer who is familiarly called Pecco started the second practice session in his hometown with certainty even though he had just recovered from an ankle fracture after the accident at the French MotoGP.
He also recorded the best time 1 minute 45,4 seconds while Bezzecchi was second and only adrift 0,063 seconds from his countryman.
In third place was Alex Rins (LCR Honda) who surprised with a time difference of 0.081 seconds from the race leader.
Consistency was also shown by Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) who managed to finish the second practice session in fourth, after in the previous session he finished third.
The South African racer looks confident and eager to achieve his target to break the dominance of the Ducati satellite and factory teams at home, namely Italy. Binder was only 0.118 seconds adrift of Pecco Bagnaia in the second session.
The fifth to tenth positions were filled by Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac), Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo), Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac), Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda), Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing), and Luca Marini (Mooney VR46).
Drama was also inevitable on the Mugello track following Aleix Espargaro who limped into the second practice after crashing quite hard in the previous practice session. Heroically, he returned to form and took ninth place.
Marc Marquez – after trying hard to overtake his younger brother in both practice sessions, finally tried to get up and finished in eighth position after competing with Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing).
Meanwhile, the Italian MotoGP series will continue on Saturday (10/6) with qualifying rounds and Sprint races to compete for the best positions and collect points in the standings for riders this season.
