JABAR EKSPRES – Stakeholders in Surabaya’s Juanda International Airport, namely Surabaya Special Class 1 Immigration, East Java Police and Juanda Air Force, have agreed to eradicate trafficking in persons (TPPO) at the airport.
Commander of Juanda Air Base Colonel (P) Heru Prasetyo during a media meeting at Juanda Airport, Thursday (8/6), said this was done after many Indonesian citizens died as victims of trafficking within a year.
“We will not remain silent by taking firm action against the perpetrators of this TPPO, we will form a special team that will handle this case,” he said.
Heru said he would not be indiscriminate with the perpetrators of TPPO and was ready to ‘finish off’ the perpetrators. “I will kill anyone because no matter what, it harms the victim at any time,” he emphasized.

Deputy Director of the East Java Police Ditreskrimsus AKPB Ronald Purba admitted that until now the East Java Police has received 11 complaints of TPPO crimes.
“In the near future, we will repatriate victims of TPPO from Cambodia to Indonesia,” he said.
Head of the Immigration Division of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of East Java Hendro Tri Prasetyo said that many of the victims of TPPO experienced problems while working abroad. So, not only did they return home dead, but the victims also experienced depression, to illness that made them disabled.
“Many of these victims experienced acts of violence abroad, so the perpetrators who plunged these victims could be subject to criminal charges because the victims were lured with a lot of money,” he said.
Head of Immigration Class 1 Special Surabaya Chiko Ahmad Mutakhin said that the perpetrators of TPPO often use the tourist visa mode.
“From there, we managed to secure many victims and postpone their departure abroad,” he said.
