JABAR EKSPRES – Indonesia is getting stronger at the top of the ASEAN Para Games 2023 Cambodia medal standings with additional gold obtained on the first day of the event, Sunday (6/4).
The Indonesian contingent until Sunday night was listed in first place with a total of 72 medals, consisting of 30 gold, 26 silver and 16 bronze.
The Indonesian national para- swimming team contributed nine gold medals on the first day of competition with Jendi Pangabean opening the gold medal tap.
Achievements were also made by the Indonesian national blind judo team which swept the gold medals in the five classes competed on the first day.
Para-athletics also presented eight golds for Indonesia. Similarly, the iron women’s para-lifting was able to contribute three gold medals, and para-chess won four golds.

The difference in Indonesia’s gold achievement is getting farther from second place, which makes the Red and White more comfortable sitting at the top of the standings.
While Indonesia has led the standings since Sunday afternoon, changes in the standings occurred below the rankings of the Red and White contingent.
Vietnam shifted the Philippines to occupy the second rank, while Thailand from fifth place skyrocketed to third.
There was a tight competition between the two countries, with Vietnam collecting 16 gold medals, while Thailand 15 gold medals.
In fourth place, the Philippines with nine golds competed closely with Malaysia, which was in fifth place, with a difference of one gold.
Meanwhile, hosts Cambodia are eighth with two golds while Timor Leste made a surprise grab of one gold to finish ninth.
