JABAR EKSPRES – The University of Indonesia (UI) offers electric buses as environmentally friendly vehicles that are the result of the design and production of researchers from the UI Faculty of Engineering.
Dean of FTUI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah at UI Depok Campus on Wednesday said the electric bus is an important innovation in the transportation sector, and can inspire people about the importance of using clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.
According to him, UI hopes to be a leader in encouraging the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia and spreading awareness of the importance of protecting our environment.
The bus has been an operational vehicle at Indonesia’s G20 Summit and received positive feedback from the public at the event.
In addition, this bus is planned to become an operational vehicle in the University of Indonesia campus environment. This is so that the UI academic community can use environmentally friendly vehicles.

The UI Electric Bus was realized thanks to the support of the Government through the Education Fund Development Agency (LPDP) which invested Rp12.65 billion for the development of the electric bus platform and Rp5 billion for the development of the drive system (electric motor) by UI.
Head of the Research Center for Advanced Vehicles (RCAVe), Dr. Ir. Feri Yusivar, M.Eng. said, gradually the electric bus components will be produced in-house.
“Initially we assembled from imported components, we began to replace one by one with domestic components to increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN). In the future, we plan to make new components for electric buses,” he said on Wednesday (5/31).
The UI electric bus was exhibited at the automotive industry exhibition titled Indonesia International Trade Show for Automotive Industry (INAPA) 2023 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on May 24-26, 2023.
