JABAR EKSPRES –Espanyol are confirmed to be relegated from La Liga after drawing 2-2 against Valencia in the 37th week of the Spanish League at the Mestalla Stadium, Valencia, Sunday night local time.
In this match Espanyol actually had a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Cesar Montes and Martin Braithwaite, but Valencia was able to equalize through Samuel Lino in second half stoppage time, according to Spanish League records.
Espanyol became the second team to be confirmed to be relegated to the Segunda Division next season after Elche was confirmed to have dropped out of the caste a few weeks earlier.
This result makes Espanyol stuck in 19th place in the Spanish League standings with a score 36 points from 37 matches, four points adrift of the safety zone.

Despite securing victory in their last match against Almeria, it is certain that Espanyol will not pursue the closest safe position now occupied by Celta Vigo.
Now there are six teams that will compete for a place in the relegation zone in the final standings, namely Cadiz, Getafe, Valencia, Almeria, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad.
Mathematically, these six teams still have a chance of being thrown into the red zone and are required to secure victory in the last week to be able to maintain themselves in the highest caste of Spanish football next season.
