JABAR EKSPRES –Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey or King’s Cup for the 2022/23 season after beating Osasuna 2-1 in the final which took place at Estadio La Cartuja on Sunday (5/7).
Rodrygo bought up two goals for Real Madrid’s victory, while Osasuna had equalized in the 58th minute through Lucas Torro’s goal.
This is the 20th Copa del Rey title in Real Madrid s history, while Athletic Bilbao have won 23 times and Barcelona 31 times.
Real Madrid started the match well with a goal in the 2nd minute. Rodrygo sent a pass to Vinicius Junior on the left who then beat two Osasuna players.
Vinicius then sent in a pull-back which Rodrygo grabbed at the far post and turned it into a goal. The score was 1-0.
Real Madrid had almost scored a second goal in the 32nd minute, had David Alaba’s free kick not hit the crossbar.
There were no additional goals until the first half ended.
Osasuna were able to equalize in the 58th minute, Abde Ezzalzouli’s cross to the front of the penalty box was struck by Lucas Torro with a volley into the bottom left corner of Thibaut Courtois’ goal. It was 1-1.
Rodrygo scored the winner in the 70th minute, Vinicius played a pass to Toni Kroos, whose shot was blocked by an Osasuna defender. However, the ball rolled to Rodrygo and he finished calmly into the net. The score was 2-1 in favor of Madrid.
Real Madrid managed to maintain their lead until the match was over and ensure themselves to be the 2022/2023 Copa del Rey champions.
