JABAR EKSPRES – Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Mohammad Syahril, said the Health Bill guarantees affordable and transparent specialist education costs.
“Later, students who take part in hospital-based education do not need to pay tuition fees because they will be considered as apprentice doctors and actually get income,” Mohammad Syahril said here on Friday (5/5).
He said specialist doctor education which is now accommodated in the Health Bill can be carried out on a hospital basis under the supervision of the collegium and the Ministry of Health.
Syahril, who also serves as Managing Director of RSPI Sulianti Saroso Jakarta, said specialist doctor education can be carried out through a proctorship program, where doctors do not need to go to the education center to get education, but the teachers go to the regions to provide education at local hospitals.
“This is like the scheme in the UK, where if there is a shortage of specialist doctors in an area, the lecturers are sent to the area to provide education. So for example, if there is a shortage of specialists in Kalimantan, then the lecturers will go there, not the doctors who go to Java,” said Syahril.
According to him, the scheme will help eliminate the potential for bullying of students in medical education facilities.
“Bullying is a special concern of the House of Representatives and the government where the anti-bullying article has been proposed to be included in the Health Bill,” he said.
Syahril said that the Ministry of Health received reports of bullying. But many doctors are afraid to speak out to the public because it risks their careers. They prefer to remain silent and accept the bullying treatment.
In the proposed Health Bill, the protection article is listed in Article 208E Point d which states that students who provide health services receive protection from physical, mental, and bullying violence.
