JABAR EKSPRES –Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targets the Indonesian contingent to win more than 69 gold medals and be ranked 1st or 2nd at the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia 2023.
“I ask for the gold to be above 69, the rank is also above 3. The choice is only two, rank one or rank two,” President Jokowi said on the front yard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/2).
Jokowi understands that the target he set is not something that is easy to achieve. However, he believes that all 599 Indonesian athletes at the 2023 SEA Games already have enough provisions and abilities to achieve better results than the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

“I see that the athletes here have very sufficient provisions for later competing in Cambodia, and by saying bismillah this morning the 32nd SEA Games contingent in Cambodia in 2023 I declare departure,” he said.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, on the same occasion, said Indonesia will participate in 31 sports from a total of 36 sports competed at the 32nd SEA Games.
Indonesia will dispatch 599 athletes accompanied by 230 coaches and officials, as well as the support of a central team and sports personnel consisting of doctors paramedics, and a recovery team of 55 people. That way, the total Indonesian contingent at the 2023 SEA Games is 884 people.
“Currently, some sports have started competing earlier such as cricket soccer and indoor hockey,” Dito said.
Dito explained that in accordance with the Grand Design of National Sports (DBON), the 32nd SEA Games is an intermediate target to achieve achievements at the Asian Games and Olympics which are the main targets, coinciding with May 20 commemorating National Education Day.
