JABAR EKSPRES —Malang City Police said based on a temporary report there were dozens of kiosks affected by the fire at the Malang Plaza shopping center on Jalan Agus Salim, Klojen District, Malang City, East Java.
Malang City Police Chief, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, in Malang City, Tuesday (5/2) said that dozens of kiosks were located on the first floor to the third floor of the shopping center which is one of the centers for selling cellular phones.
“There are 36 kiosks on the first floor, three kiosks on the second floor and 24 kiosks on the third floor,” Budi said.
Budi explained, however, the data collection process is still ongoing to ascertain how many kiosks were affected by the shopping center fire that occurred at approximately 00.30 WIB on Tuesday (4/2) morning.
According to him, to collect data on the victims of the fire, Malang City Police together with the Malang City Government will open a complaint post to obtain detailed information regarding the exact number of affected kiosks.
“We are preparing a complaint post at the Malang City Government, in collaboration with Malang City Police so that people can report,” he said.
He added, to find out the cause of the fire at the shopping center, Malang City Police will bring in the Labfor team of the East Java Regional Police (Polda). The team will investigate to determine the source of the fire, which is currently suspected to have originated on the third floor.
“A Labfor team from the East Java Regional Police will be brought in to check the source of the fire. For temporary information, the fire is suspected to have originated from the third floor,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Malang City Government will coordinate with the shopping center manager or management to calculate the value of losses due to the fire incident.
