Regarding fashion trends in Indonesia in 2023, Poppy said APPMI as a forum for Indonesian fashion designers is trying to create its own fashion trends. Even so, APPMI still looks at the condition of fashion trends abroad to stay up-to-date or not out of date.
“APPMI creates its own trends and we see references from Paris, New York, (and several other countries),” Poppy said.
Poppy also thinks that clothing trends in Indonesia should have an ethnic touch typical of Indonesian culture. For example, during a fashion show in Jakarta some time ago, Gorontalo’s traditional fabric, Karawo, was promoted at the event.
In addition, the selection of clothing colors is important to match the pattern or pattern of the clothing itself.
Poppy advised local fashion designers who want to be better known by the public to continue learning and participate in events and fashion shows organized by several parties, one of which is APPMI. In addition, consistency in fashion work and quality needs to be maintained in order to last long.
“We have to keep going,” Poppy said.
