Provincial Government Holds Cheap Ramadan Market to Curb Inflation

JABAR EKSPRES –The West Sulawesi Provincial Government is holding a Ramadan Cheap Market in Mamuju Regency to curb inflation that could occur during the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri.

Head of the Food Security Office of West Sulawesi Province, Abdul Waris Bestari, in Mamuju, on Wednesday (12/4) said that the West Sulawesi Government in collaboration with the National Food Security Agency, Perum Bulog, and Bank Indonesia BI implemented the cheap food movement.

He said the Ramadan cheap market program was held at the new Mamuju market to maintain food supply and prices during the month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr in stable conditions.

According to him, the government will continue to strive to maintain the stability of food prices so that people are not economically burdened ahead of Eid this year.

He said there were nine commodities in the Ramadhan market, including premium rice, medium rice, shallots, garlic, curly chili, cayenne pepper, purebred chicken meat, eggs, and cooking oil.

“These commodities are sold at low prices because the price is 15 percent below the normal price in the market, so people welcome enthusiastically. This policy is also to support the direction of the Governor of West Sulawesi to keep the commodities affordable for the community,” he said.

He said the West Sulawesi Provincial Government also continues to monitor the price conditions of community needs in the market and will intervene if there are commodities that experience price increases.
