JABAR EKSPRES — Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) personnel from Sukabumi District helped to treat and provide first aid to four tourists who drowned at Curug Larangan, Cisaar Village, Sukabumi District, West Java on Monday (24/4).
“There were no fatalities in the incident that occurred at the waterfall tourist attraction located in Girimukti Village, Ciemas Subdistrict,” said Head of PMI Sukabumi District, Hondo Suwito, in Sukabumi on Monday.
Hondo added that the four victims were identified as Fauzan (19), Dafa (20) and Wahyu Perdana, residents of Sukamajubaru, Tapos Village/Regency, Depok City, West Java, and Aldis (20), a resident of Cibarengkok Village, Simpenan Village/Regency, Sukabumi District.

Information gathered from PMI personnel, this incident began when the three tourists from Depok were swimming and taking photos around the Curug Larangan waterfall. However, one of them, Fauzan, was carried away and drowned.
His two colleagues, Dafa and Wahyu, who saw the incident, tried to help but instead drowned. Seeing the drowning, a local tourist who happened to be traveling at the waterfall, Aldis, immediately helped the three tourists from Depok and managed to save them.
Allegedly due to fatigue, Aldis suddenly fainted and was immediately given first aid by PMI personnel who were on standby not far from the scene. Fauzan was in good health, while the other three victims Dafa, Wahyu and Aldis had to be rushed to Palabuhanratu Hospital due to their weak condition.
“All of the victims survived, but three of them had to be evacuated by PMI Sukabumi ambulance to the hospital because they needed medical treatment,” added Hondo.
He said that in Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2023, his party deployed dozens of personnel to assist and join other security officers in providing services to travelers, tourists and residents. The personnel deployed came from the volunteer corps (KSR), medical and rescue teams.
