Bakauheni-Merak Passenger Traffic Generally Increased from Last Year

JABAR EKSPRES — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) recorded an increase in the number of passenger and vehicle movements from Sumatra Island to Java through Bakauheni Port to Merak until Wednesday compared to last year.

Based on data from the Bakauheni Command Post on Wednesday, it was recorded that the total number of passengers crossing from Sumatra to Java from H-9 to H-3 was recorded at 261,442 people, up 9 percent compared to the realization of the same period in 2022 of 240,939 people. The total number of vehicles that have crossed was recorded at 53,098 units, up 3 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 51,348 units.

Meanwhile, the total number of passengers crossing from Java to Sumatra from H-9 to H-3 was recorded at 445,977 people, up 1 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 440,062 people. Vehicles that have crossed were recorded at 102,037 units, down 4 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 106,090 units.

Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, after attending a limited meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo some time ago said that the government decided to add a joint leave starting from April 19, 2023 to accommodate time for travelers and prevent accumulation on homecoming routes.

Two-wheeled vehicles crossing from Java to Sumatra reached 8,345 units, down 39 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 13,748 units. The number of four-wheeled vehicles was recorded at 13,282 units, down 16 percent compared to the realization of the same period last year of 15,895 units.
