JABAR EKSPRES — Cirebon City Police, West Java, imposed an open and close system at the rest area at kilometer (Km) 207 to anticipate congestion and appealed to travelers to stop in the area for no more than 30 minutes.

“We are implementing an open and close system at the rest area to anticipate congestion,” said Head of Traffic Division of Cirebon City Police AKP Triyono Raharja in Cirebon, West Java, Tuesday (18/4).

He said the implementation of the open and close system was to ensure that the rest area could accommodate travelers and anticipate queues of vehicles.

If the open and close system is not implemented, Triyono continued, it is feared that vehicles will accumulate at the rest area and could cause congestion.

“Before exceeding the capacity of 100 percent, we close it first,” he added.

Triyono added that there are times when the rest area is indeed crowded with travelers, such as when going to dawn and entering the zuhur and magrib times.

Therefore, at these vulnerable hours, the police are always aware so that there is no queue snaking into the toll road lane, so an open and close system is applied.

“There are certain hours, such as when going to dawn, zuhur, and magrib,” he said.

In addition to enforcing the open and close system, the police also urge people who are resting to stay no longer than 30 minutes in the rest area so that they can take turns with other travelers.

“Make the best use of the rest area, do not exceed 30 minutes,” Triyono said.
