Densus 88: Responds Quickly in Arresting Terrorism Suspects

JABAR EKSPRES — The Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) assesses that the Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror has worked quickly by arresting five terrorism suspects in Central Sulawesi.

“Densus 88 Anti-terror never stops arresting terrorist suspects,” said Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), Dr. Edi Hasibuan Edi in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (20/3).

According to this police observer, hunting down and detecting the activities of terrorists is not an easy job.

“It takes a long time and a lot of patience to be able to monitor the activities of this network. As soon as they see movement, Densus 88 Anti-terror moves,” said the lecturer in terrorism crimes at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta.

He said fast and appropriate law enforcement action would make people feel comfortable.

Previously, the Head of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police Public Information Sub-Division, Kompol Sugeng Lestadi, in Palu, Friday (17/3) said Densus 88 assisted by the Central Sulawesi Regional Police searched houses in Tinggede Village, Sigi Regency and Silae Sub-District, Palu City, Thursday (16/3) related to the arrest of the suspects.

He said the five people arrested were related to the terrorism group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI). They are AF (41), KP (52), MA (42), ZA (42) a resident of Palu City and RA (42) a resident of Sigi Regency.

Densus 88 seized a number of pieces of evidence at two search locations including 13 books, three bundles of foundation documents, a machete, five throwing knives, a penknife, three telescopes, nine arrows and an air rifle.
