Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria, ITPC Facilitate Promotion of Beauty Products in South Africa

JABAR EKSPRES – The Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria supported the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Johannesburg to facilitate Indonesian companies in the Professional Beauty Exhibition (PBEJ) at the Gallagher Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa, on September 3-4.

ITPC Johannesburg Director Tonny Hendriawan said that as the number of middle to upper class people increases, so does the demand for beauty products and fitness services in South Africa.

“We must certainly interpret this as an opportunity for the entry of various Indonesian products in the accreditation country, for example make-up, skin care, aroma therapy, including amenities for hospitality businesses,” Hendriawan said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday (9/4).

Hendriawan believes this can be utilized as product penetration and supporting tools for beauty and fitness so that the participation of Indonesian companies is very positive where Indonesian products carry traditional and noble values.

There are four Indonesian companies representing Indonesia, namely PT Tirta Ayu, PT Moretosee Sinar Indonesia, PT Kino Indonesia, and PT Bangun Mandiri that display a variety of beauty products.

Lenywati, a spa business activist in South Africa with ‘Tirta Ayu’ outlets in Eswatini and Nigeria said she was very happy to participate in representing Indonesia in the annual event.

“Of course we are very proud to be able to represent Indonesia in an international event like PBEJ this year, myself and several colleagues from other companies. Our participation in this event certainly opens up various possibilities for expanding our business. The potential in Africa is very wide open as a non-traditional market,” she said.

Lenywati hopes to penetrate the South African market in the future, adding that the South African side has expressed interest in cooperating with her spa outlet.

Indonesia’s business expansion architecture in South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini and Lesotho in the future needs to consider the fitness or wellness center business sector, including spas.
