JABAR EKSPRES – Two weeks after the Austrian MotoGP was held at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, the international motor racing event is now set to return to Spain with the Catalunya MotoGP held at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit this weekend.
First included on the calendar in 1992, this is the 32nd consecutive year that the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit has hosted a Grand Prix.
It is behind the Dutch TT Assen Circuit and the Spanish Jerez Circuit which have hosted MotoGP 71 times and 38 times respectively.

There are a number of interesting facts about the Catalunya GP. Valentino Rossi (2006/Yamaha) and Jorge Lorenzo (2010/Yamaha and 2018/Ducati) are the only two riders to win a MotoGP race in Catalunya from pole position.
In addition, 2020 is the first time Spain has not had at least one winner at the Catalunya GP since 2002. There has been at least one Spanish rider on the podium in a MotoGP race since 2007, except in 2021.
There have been 11 wins by Spanish riders in Catalunya’s premier class. There are Alex Criville (1995 and 1999), Carlos Checa (1996), Dani Pedrosa (2008), Jorge Lorenzo (2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018), and Marc Marquez (2014 and 2019).
