Hard Work is The Key for Latvia to Beat The Superior French Team

One of them is how their mainstay star Kristaps Porzingis who still came with the team to fly to Indonesia to support directly even though he did not play because he suffered an injury.

“You saw how Kristaps Porzingis responded after his injury. He really wants to be here. He really wants to be a part. He actively participates in our daily work,” Luca Banchi explained.

“So that’s what makes Latvia special. From my side, based on my experience, I built a very strong and great personal relationship,” he continued.

Latvia will face Canada in the final match of Group H to determine the top of the group standings. Commenting on the match, Luca Banchi realizes that the opposing team is made up of star names ranging from Dillon Brooks, Kelly Olynyk, to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

However, he says he will endeavor to find a way to play against Jordi Fernandez’s team.

“Canada is a very strong team. We have to find the resources to compete. That’s the mission. We’ve reached the last 16. It’s amazing,” said Luca Banchi.

The same can be said for Davis Bertans who scored 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in the game against France.

“The more wins we can collect now, the better chance we have to go further (at the 2023 FIBA World Cup) and do something more special (as a debutant team),” said the Latvian national team forward.
