Jabar Ekspres – Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said he will visit Tesla CEO Elon Musk in early August 2023 to finalize the electric car manufacturer’s investment plan in Indonesia.
This was conveyed by Luhut following the presence of Tesla in Malaysia through headquarters and service centers in the neighboring country.

“There is no Tesla (in Malaysia) yet. I want to meet Elon Musk on the 2nd of next month. Yes, we want to finalize (Tesla’s investment in Indonesia),” Luhut said after signing the UK PACT Carbon Pricing Implementing Arrangement (IA) in Jakarta on Monday.
Tesla itself has launched an indoor super fast charging station at a local shopping center in Malaysia.
The American electric car manufacturer also opened online reservations for the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 in Malaysia.
In addition, Tesla will open a headquarters and Tesla Experience and Service Center as part of the Global Leaders BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) Malaysia initiative.

Despite being overtaken several times by a number of countries, including India and Malaysia, the Indonesian government emphasized that negotiations with Tesla are still ongoing. The progress of the negotiations itself is locked in a nondisclosure agreement (NDA).
Tesla itself is interested in investing in Indonesia. Likewise, Indonesia also welcomes the investment plan for electric vehicles from Tesla in Indonesia.
