DS PENSKE is Still Optimistic About Winning The Formula E World Title

JABAR EKSPRES – The DS PENSKE team is still optimistic about becoming more competitive and winning the Formula E electric car racing title for the 2022/23 season at the 13th and 14th rounds to be held in Rome, Italy, this weekend.

This follows their main driver, Jean-Eric Vergne, who is now perched in fifth position in the standings and is considered still capable of narrowing the gap and winning the title for the third time after the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

“(Catching up) The points difference (in the standings) will be challenging, but we will fight until the end because the DS PENSKE team is still in the fight for the title with Vergne,” said DS Performance Director Eugenio Franzetti, quoted from an official statement, Friday (7/14).

Rome’s Cittadino dell’EUR circuit on July 15 and 16 will host the second last race of the season, before closing in London, England, at the end of this month.

The track in Rome is famous for its waves, and the presence of several corners that are oblique in sequence. The race at Cittadino dell’EUR is also said to offer a competitive battle for the final points of the 2022/23 season.

Furthermore, Franzetti said he was still confident in Vergne because of his track record of winning Race 1 in Rome in 2021, then finishing second in 2022.

He thinks the French rider still has everything it takes to put in another great performance this year.

In addition, another DS PENSKE driver Stoffel Vandoorne was also a winner in Rome in 2021. The team says Vandoorne will also be highly motivated to deliver another podium finish for the team.

“We have worked hard to prepare for the race in Rome and we have high expectations. Our drivers have won there with different generations of cars and they have a good feeling for the circuit,” Franzetti said.
