JABAR EKSPRES – Bugatti is reportedly working on a new 22,819-square-foot (2,120-square-meter) two-story facility at its headquarters in Moslheim, France.
Carscoop reported on Thursday (6/29) that the new building will be located next to the existing “studio” and will house a new team with a view to improving their ability to collaborate.
The new building is expected to open in the second half of 2024.
The automaker stated that it is currently on a recruitment campaign, possibly to fill roles in quality control, planning, logistics, and production departments.
Overall, the automaker said it wants to expand its workforce by more than 50 percent by the end of 2027.
The new facility and new team will assist Bugatti in making existing vehicles, such as the Bugatti Bolide and W16 Mistral, as well as the first vehicles in the post-Veyron-Chiron W16 era.
“The addition of this new facility at our home in Molsheim will match the expansion of the brand and product range, showcasing Bugatti’s strengths as we head into an exciting future,” said Bugatti Automobiles President Christophe Piochon.
Bugatti is about to undergo a major change as it says goodbye to the W16 engine that has been at the heart of every vehicle it has built this millennium.
Now, the automaker says that it is giving up on the engine as it plans to introduce a new hybrid power unit that will power its vehicles in the future.
To remedy this, the reins of the company have been handed over to Mate Rimac, founder of Croatian EV startup Rimac.
What the team has in store remains to be seen, but the combination should result in an exciting next-generation vehicle.
