JABAR EKSPRES – Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia (Konjen RI) Johor Bahru Sigit Suryantoro Widiyanto appreciates and also supports Makassar Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar) students who conduct real work practices (PKN) in the hospitality industry in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Makassar Polytechnic students can make the best use of internship opportunities to hone and improve knowledge and skills in the service sector that provides services for guests whose role cannot be replaced by the sophistication of Artificial Intelligent (AI) technology, said Sigit in Johor Bahru, Friday.
He asked Poltekpar Makassar to invite Malaysian students and students to study in Makassar so that the exchange of experience is balanced in order to advance the service industry of the two countries.
Makassar Polytechnic signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Granada Hotel in Johor Bahru for PKN students.
The signing of the MoU was carried out by Makassar Polytechnic Director Muhammad Arifin with Granada Hotel General Manager Adrian Ng and HR Director Care Luxury Sdn. Bhd. Irwan, witnessed by the Executive of the Socio-Cultural Information Function (Pensosbud) of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Johor Bahru Mohamad Rizali Noor.
Muhammad Arifin said the real work practice of students abroad has been carried out for a long time, but it has stopped since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
He said this collaboration made Makassar Polytechnic students get another opportunity to carry out real work practices in the industry abroad, especially since there was full support from the Consulate General of Johor Bahru.
Arifin added that this collaboration was realized thanks to the facilitation of the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru, which has brought Poltekpar together with the hospitality industry.
