JABAR EKSPRES – Anthony Sinisuka Ginting showed a persistent and tireless game in the Indonesia Open 2023 final match. However, the results were unsatisfactory as he had to recognize Viktor Axelsen’s superiority in two straight games. The match took place at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta.
In the match, Ginting played to the best of his ability, but he had to accept the runner-up position after losing with a score of 14-21, 13-21. Technically, Ginting lost in the attack aspect compared to his opponent. However, as the world’s number two ranked men’s singles, Ginting was clever in playing more boldly in the front zone with netting games.
Axelsen, who has a better attack pattern and range, struggled when Ginting forced netting games. Ginting’s resistance made the match score balanced and fierce. Although Ginting managed to equalize the score to 10-10, a poor serve put Axelsen back ahead 10-11.
However, after the interval, Ginting had a hard time. Axelsen was increasingly difficult to penetrate and was getting more aggressive with hard smes. In the second half of the match, he only managed to score four points before finally the first game ended with a score of 14-21.
Ginting struggled even more against Axelsen in the second game. Although he was still comfortable with ground ball attacks that forced his opponent to make difficult reaches, the strategy was not as effective as in the first game.
Ginting was caught under pressure and continued to fall behind until the score was 7-14. Although he had scored three consecutive points and changed the score to 11-14, Axelsen still held the advantage. Finally, the match was won by Axelsen with a second game score of 13-21.
