Depok’s Endeavor Towards UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Building of Creativity

In the future, Depok City will have a building that functions as a creativity center for young people.

The proposal has been approved by West Java Governor Ridwal Kamil and the detailed engineering design or DED has been completed.

Depok Mayor Mohammad Idris said Ridwan Kamil had already budgeted but because in 2020-2021 there was refocusing, the Rp22 billion budget at that time was finally removed.

However, Idris then asked again for the procurement of a creative center building for Depok City to be budgeted in 2024 to West Java Province. To make it happen, his party has also budgeted the construction of a creative center in the Depok City Regional Budget (APBD).

Later, the gathering place for young people will be filled with a cloud kitchen developed by the Jakarta Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ), which in the future will also work with the Depok City Government.

This includes experienced startups who are also asked to share their knowledge and experience to Madrasah TeknoNatura to develop creative habits to schools, both to high schools and vocational schools in Depok.

The creative center is planned to be built near Depok City Square Park, on Grand Depok City (GDC) Boulevard, Jatimulya Village, Cilodong District.

Depok DPRD member Qurtifa Wijaya said the appointment of Depok City to represent Indonesia at the UCCN event in 2023 is a form of proud achievement.

However, Depok City Government should not be complacent, it needs more efforts so that Depok can achieve maximum results to become the best creative city in the world.

Various programs and activities that have been carried out by the city government, such as training to produce new entrepreneurs and produce women entrepreneurs, must continue to be carried out.

Depok City Government must also facilitate the growth and development of start-up companies as well as training and development of IT-based government services.
