JABAR EKSPRES – The Kepahiang Regency Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Geophysical Station recorded 270 earthquakes in Bengkulu Province during the January-June 2023 period.
“During the period from January 1 to June 18, 2023, 270 earthquakes were recorded by Kepahiang Geophysical Station in Bengkulu Province,” said Kepahiang Station First Meteorological and Geophysical Observer Detalia Nurutami when confirmed on Sunday.
Mentioned, of the 270 earthquakes with magnitudes between 1.6 and the largest was magnitude 5.9 which occurred in South Bengkulu Regency.
For the area with the most earthquakes in Bengkulu Province, Enggano Island, North Bengkulu Regency, namely 67 earthquakes.
From the earthquake activity felt by the community, there was no damage caused by the earthquake activity.
Meanwhile, Head of the Kepahiang Climatology Station Anton Sugiharto appealed to the public to remain vigilant in the event of an earthquake and always prepare to evacuate if they feel an earthquake at any time.
“With the earthquake, people can always update information from BMKG,” he said.
He also asked all people of Bengkulu Province not to be provoked by irresponsible information or issues.
Because earthquakes that often occur in the Bengkulu region with small strengths cause the release of energy in the earth’s plates to occur continuously, thereby reducing the occurrence of large earthquakes.
