Napoli Appoint Rudi Garcia as New Coach

Jabar Ekspres – Serie A champions Napoli appointed Rudi José Garcia as their new coach on Friday, replacing Luciano Spalletti who leaves after leading the Partenopei to their first Scudetto last season since 1989/1990.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed the news of the Frenchman’s arrival before the club officially announced the news.

“I am happy to announce that after meeting and talking for the past 10 days, Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli,” De Laurentiis said on Twitter quoted by AFP.

Rudi Garcia himself admitted that he was happy to have the trust to train Napoli.

“I am happy to be able to take on this Napoli project. Very happy to be back in Italy,” Garcia said on his Twitter account. “I am very motivated and ambitious.”

Rudi Garcia himself is no stranger to Italian football, he has coached AS Roma from 2013-2016 before moving to French Ligue 1 by coaching Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais.

The French coach then coached Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr last season which was strengthened by Cristiano Ronaldo. Garcia then left Al Nassr in April by mutual decision.
