The Mayor of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, said that currently the Bandung City Government is working on creating an application to reduce public service interactions during the pandemic. This application is integrated with BCC.
Based on this innovation, Bandung City Government was included in the Top 50 Smart City Government Rankings released by Eden Strategy Institute in March last year.
“Bandung City is the only region in Indonesia that entered the top 50. We are ranked 28th, flanked by Oslo City Sweden (ranked 27th) and Hangzhou City China (ranked 29th),” he explained.
3. Cable-Free Bandung
As a smart city, Bandung City has also made improvements in aesthetic value. One of them is the underground cable planting system (cable ducting). A total of 13 roads are targeted for ducting.
Head of the Information Technology Infrastructure Division of the Bandung City Diskominfo, Mahyudin, said that the lowering of aerial cables on one of the roads, namely along Jalan Dago, was a sample project carried out by Diskominfo in less than a year.
Bandung City Government continues to strive so that the main roads can soon be free of dangling cables in 2023.
4. 5G Network
The Bandung City Government is installing wireless internet networks or wifi in 40 parks scattered at various points to provide work space for the community, thereby increasing productivity for the creation of economic recovery.
Mahyudin said that the 5G network requires proper facilities for the community. So that currently the government continues to try to collaborate with the private sector.
“The 5G network requires facilities. The tower is not a big one. Now tower technology is like a small antenna. So our calculation requires 4,000-5,000 towers, while there are 1,500 large ones,” said Mahyudin.
He hopes that the free wifi facilities in Bandung City can continue to be utilized by the community so as to encourage other private parties to collaborate to follow the same thing.
