JABAR EKSPRES – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) together with the local government and local authorities evacuated 14 doctors, nurses, midwives and health workers participating in the Nusantara Sehat program serving in Tambrauw Regency, West Papua, due to security threats by the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
“This morning our colleagues have been taken to Sorong after receiving threats from the KKB. Thank you to the local government and authorities who swiftly helped evacuate,” said Director General of Health Personnel of the Ministry of Health drg. Arianti Anaya in a written statement received by Indonesia Window here on Sunday.
The Healthy Archipelago Program is an intervention program from the Ministry of Health to build integrated health that includes preventive, promotive, and curative aspects through special assignments of team-based health workers with certain numbers and types to improve access and quality of health services at Health Service Facilities in Disadvantaged, Border, and Islands (DTKP) and Health Problem Areas (DBK).
“We will continue to instruct and remind local governments in the DTKP and DBK categories to maintain the safety and comfort of the health workers assigned to the Nusantara Sehat program because they are needed to provide health services to the community,” Arianti said.
On Friday afternoon (9/6) there was a meeting to form the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) by the KKB in Bamus Bama District, Tambrauw Regency. This activity was known and subsequently disbanded by TNI and Police officers. 11 of the 23 people who participated in the meeting were arrested by the TNI and Police, the rest escaped.
The location of the incident is in the working area of Puskesmas Yembun where there are 8 health workers participating in the Nusantara Sehat Program. The location of the incident is also not far from the Syujak Health Center, the location of the special assignment of 6 Nusantara Sehat health workers.
