JABAR EKSPRES – PT Amartha Mikro Fintek (Amartha), an inclusive financial services platform is collaborating with aquaculture technology company, eFishery to strengthen national food security through strengthening aquaculture potential.
Amartha and eFishery’s collaboration provides opportunities for fish farmers and shrimp farmers who are members of the eFishery ecosystem to get inclusive financial access and develop businesses in the fisheries sector.
“Amartha’s collaboration with eFishery is expected to open the widest possible access for fish farmers so that it can have a sustainable impact, starting from improving the farmer’s economy, the quality of the harvest, to fulfilling the nutrition of future generations,” Amartha’s Head of Business Partnership Lending Adityo Putranto said in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
He believes that aquaculture in Indonesia has considerable potential to maintain food security. However, limited access to capital is one of the challenges for farmers to increase business capacity.
In addition to the goal of expanding inclusive financial services in the aquaculture sector, this collaboration is also one of the implementations of Amartha’s sustainability principles, where the provision of financial access contributes to supporting food security through more sustainable aquaculture.
Amartha has collaborated with eFishery since 2022 through the “Kasih Bayar Nanti” (Kabayan) program which is part of the eFishery mall (eMall) service. As of May 2023, Amartha has channeled capital reaching Rp114 billion and is committed to continue supporting the distribution of financial access up to Rp500 billion.
The Kabayan program has reached 1,600 fish farmers who are part of the eFishery ecosystem. Through the Kabayan program, fish farmers in the eFishery ecosystem can apply for loans ranging from IDR 3 million to IDR 100 million with tenors of one to six months.
Adityo continued that Amartha is optimistic that this collaboration can accelerate the distribution of business capital to MSMEs. Amartha is also committed to advancing the grassroots economy by reaching a more massive market segment through collaboration from various stakeholders and various sectors.
