JABAR EKSPRES – A hajj candidate from Madiun City, East Java, Ibnu Syahid Dasjil, died in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, said an official of the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH).
The head of the Surabaya Embarkation PPIH, Husnul Maram, informed that the 64-year-old hajj candidate who joined flight group (kloter) 2 died of illness on May 28, 2023.
“Hopefully the family left behind will sincerely accept this sad news. God willing, the deceased’s intention to perform hajj has been recorded by Him,” he told reporters in Surabaya, Tuesday (5/30).
PPIH Embarkation Surabaya noted that until now three hajj candidates from East Java have died upon arrival in Medina.

The other two candidates who died were Ahmad Suhadak Riduwan, aged 53, from Kebomas Subdistrict, Gresik Regency, who joined flight group (kloter) 9 and Langen Delem Dussalam, aged 90, from Socah Subdistrict, Bangkalan Regency from Kloter 1 Embarkation Surabaya.
“We express our deep sorrow for the death of the pilgrims in Medina. The pilgrims who died were buried in Medina,” he said.
Husnul, who also serves as Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kakanwil Kemenag) of East Java, explained that until today PPIH Embarkasi Surabaya has dispatched 14 flight groups with a total of 6,256 pilgrims to the Holy Land.
While today entering the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory, pilgrims from groups 15, 16 and 17 from Madiun and Sidoarjo Regencies.
East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, on Monday (29/5) visited the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory to coincide with the commemoration of National Elderly Day, May 29, 2023.
Hajj Justice and Elderly Friendly became the “tagline” in organizing the 1444 H / 2023 Hajj.
Of the total 35,152 pilgrims from East Java who left for the Holy Land this year, as many as 1,758 of them were elderly with the youngest age range of 85 years and the oldest 119 years.
