JABAR EKSPRES — A total of 85 personnel from the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department (Gulkarmat Jaksel) extinguished a fire in five houses on Jalan Asem Baris Raya 2-5 RT 03/RW 07, Kebon Baru, Tebet, Thursday (5/4) at 03.55 WIB.
“It is suspected that the five houses caught fire due to an electrical short circuit,” South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. duty officer Agus Wijaya said in a written statement, in Jakarta.
Agus explained that initially ten personnel of the South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. were deployed, then eventually 85 personnel to extinguish the blaze.
His party began extinguishing the fire at 04.07 WIB then cooling down until 05.50 WIB.
Now the fire from the house area of approximately 500 square meters (M2) is confirmed to have been extinguished.
“A total of 13 families or 30 people were affected by the fire and no one died,” he added.
As for the chronology of the fire, he said, one of the witnesses initials AF (56) at 03.30 WIB smelled the smell, then smoke came out of the house of RT Head Azis and immediately reported the fire.
The RT Head had tried to extinguish the fire and asked neighbors for help but the fire was getting bigger and contacted the South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-Department for help.
