JABAR EKSPRES — For the first time, the group Kahitna will perform in a special event titled “Yovie Widianto: Billion Songs Confest” on Wednesday (5/3), without the presence of one of their personnel, the late Carlo Saba.
The Kahitna group personnel then remembered the late Carlo Saba as a person who cared deeply about the group’s progress at all times, both in the world of music and in daily life.
“Carlo always encouraged Kahitna to make something for Indonesia. When he first founded Kahitna in high school, Carlo said, ‘Yov, make songs like this, surely we can rule Indonesia. Our band will be different from the others’. I just laughed because I typically never think about what tomorrow will be like,” Yovie Widianto recalled during a media conference on the sidelines of the rehearsal for the “Yovie Widianto” Billion Songs Confest” concert in Jakarta, Monday (5/1).
According to Yovie, the late Carlo Saba was very optimistic and believed that Kahitna could travel the world through his works. It turned out that this belief was truly realized when the group successfully traveled to various continents of the world since it was first formed in 1986 until now.
“As long as Kahitna has been making music, we almost don’t know where we went wrong when performing because the way we play music just flows. But Carlo sometimes thinks every time something is not right and that’s the positive side of him because he’s so good,” Yovie explained.
On this occasion, Yovie also argued that he was very lucky to have a Kahitna band that had almost no significant drama that often surrounds the daily life of a music group.
“This band has been running for 37 years with 9 people. It’s never been called a fight, the protests that arise are in the form of affection. Everything is fine. Throughout my career, I gave birth to many bands, but there is no one like Kahitna,” said Yovie.
