Elnusa Greening Action, Planting 4,490 Mangrove Seedlings on 40 Hectares of Land

JABAR EKSPRES — PT Elnusa Tbk from 2022 to March 2023 has planted 4,490 mangrove seedlings on an area of 40 hectares to prevent abrasion in a green action program with its subsidiaries, namely PT Elnusa Trans Samudera, PT Sigma Cipta Utama, PT Patra Nusa Data and PT Elnusa Petrofin.

“This action at Tanjung Pasir Beach is in line with the green energy transition in Indonesia in accordance with the roadmap towards Net Zero Emission / NZE by 2060 or sooner, and by planting mangroves, hopefully it will support decarbonization efforts in anticipating the current climate change,” said Elnusa Corporate Communications Manager, Jayanty Oktavia Maulina, in a press statement received in Pekanbaru, Riau, Thursday (27/4).

Jayanty said that through actions in the social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) program that are environmentally sound, it is hoped that the lives and economies of the people around Tanjung Pasir Beach who depend on marine products will be better because of the support of a good marine environment.

“Now again cooperating with Seasoldier, Elnusa helps prevent abrasion by planting and conserving mangroves on the coast of Tanjung Pasir Beach, Tangerang, Banten,” he said.

Elnusa, which is part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding, along with its business units in various regions throughout Indonesia, will continue to carry out greening actions by planting trees.

“Tree planting is the company’s real step in realizing a green and sustainable environment, realizing the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and is Elnusa’s effort in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), especially goal 13, namely Climate Action and goal 14, namely Life Below Water,” he said.

Throughout 2022, Elnusa has held 38 tree planting activities in greening activities. The types of plants and trees planted range from medicinal plants, ornamental plants, agricultural plants, fruit trees, to sandalwood and mangrove trees.

The total area successfully greened by Elnusa is around 37 hectares spread across various regions, ranging from West Aceh, Gorontalo, South Minahasa, Sibolga, West Sumbawa, East Kutai, Bima, Kolaka, Kota Baru, Dumai, Palopo, Muna, Balikpapan, Central Tapanuli, Samarinda, Nias, Manggarai.
