JABAR EKSPRES — General Chairperson of PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri, is set to announce her presidential candidate.
“Today, Friday, April 21, 2023 at 13:30-15:30, the General Chairperson of PDI Perjuangan, Prof DR (H.C.) Megawati Soekarnoputri, will announce the presidential candidate of PDI Perjuangan,” said the Secretary General of PDI Perjuangan, Hasto Kristiyanto, on Friday (21/4).
The announcement can be monitored through the PDI Perjuangan YouTube channel.
Previously, it was widely reported that Megawati Soekarnoputri would announce the presidential candidate nominated by PDI Perjuangan at Batu Tulis Palace, Bogor, West Java.

In addition, amid the rumors of the presidential candidate announcement, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was confirmed to have traveled back to DKI Jakarta on Friday, amid the strengthening rumors of the presidential candidate announcement plan by PDI Perjuangan today.

Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin stated that Jokowi returned to Jakarta to undergo an internal agenda, but did not elaborate further.
“Yes, the President went to Jakarta for an internal agenda,” Bey said in a statement to the media crew received in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of PDI Perjuangan, Hasto Kristiyanto, emphasized that the decision regarding his party’s presidential candidate will be announced by General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri by considering the right momentum.
For information, registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to open from October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.
Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (Election Law), presidential and vice-presidential candidates are proposed by a political pa or a coalition of political parties participating in the elections that meet the requirements of obtaining at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the national valid votes in the previous DPR elections.
