Number of Passengers at Bakauheni Port on H-6 Increases by 173 percent

JABAR EKSPRES — General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Bakauheni Branch, Rudi Sunarko, said that the number of pedestrian passengers traveling on Lebaran 2023, using Bakauheni Port crossing services, rose 173 percent on H-6 compared to last year with the same period.

“Based on data obtained from the Integrated Command Post for Lebaran 2023 Transportation, at Bakauheni Port, Lampung, the number of pedestrian passengers on April 15, 2023 until Sunday afternoon (16/04) was recorded at 1,734 people. Meanwhile, the number of pedestrian passengers in the same period last year was recorded at 635 people,” he said in South Lampung, Sunday (16/4).

Furthermore, not only pedestrian passengers experienced an increase, passengers in the vehicle also increased by seven percent.

“The number of passengers in vehicles using ASDP Bakauheni branch crossing services in 2023 was 36,874 people, while in 2022 it was 34,440 people,” he said.

He added that the increase in the number of passengers also occurred in two-wheeled vehicles.

“According to data for 24 hours, the number of two-wheeled vehicles today is 411 units, while in 2023 it is 263 units,” he said.

He said the number of ship trips operating in the 2023 Lebaran homecoming transportation had increased by around 32 percent.

“In 2022 there were 77 trips, while in 2023 there are 102 ship trips operating,” he said.

Earlier based on monitoring on Sunday morning, it showed that there were thousands of pedestrian passengers crowding the regular pier of Bakauheni Port.

Thousands of pedestrian travelers at the Bakauheni Port dock waited in line to board the ship.

Although there was a queue of passengers on the harbor bridge, it did not cause a long queue and seemed to run smoothly and safely.

Rudi said that the number of passengers from Bakauheni Port in South Lampung to Merak Port in Banten began to increase in Lebaran 2023.
