FPCI Gives Climate Hero Award to Professor Emil Salim

JABAR EKSPRES -Foreign Policy Community Indonesia (FPCI) awarded the Climate Hero Award to Professor Emil Salim during the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit 2023 (INZS 2023).

“Prof. Emil was chosen as one of the recipients of the Climate Hero Award because of his leadership and perseverance in advocating concrete, ambitious and progressive climate action,” FPCI Chairman Dino Patti Djalal said in a press release received by Indonesia Window here on Saturday (6/24).

FPCI organizes the Climate Hero Award which is conferred on figures and community groups who are instrumental in fighting for Indonesia’s climate ambitions, commitments and actions.

Through the Climate Hero Award, FPCI aims to honor their leadership and perseverance in advocating ambitious and progressive climate action, and is the highest recognition of their significant contributions to Indonesia and its net-zero emissions future.

INZS 2023 is an annual climate conference organized by FPCI as a unique gathering space for ministers, officials, diplomats, youth, civil society and others to discuss climate issues specific to Indonesia.

INZS 2023 aims to gather and strengthen Indonesia’s commitment in saving the nation’s future from climate crisis.

The INZS 2023 event opened with remarks from FPCI chairman and founder Dino Patti Djalal, followed by artist Maudy Ayunda, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, and followed by Choi Siwon’s performance in a video supporting climate action to achieve net zero emissions (NZE).

On the same occasion, the award was also presented to Mercy Barends, a member of the House of Representatives Commission VII on energy, research and technology, and environment, as well as the Chairperson of the Green Economy Caucus of the House of Representatives, who has consistently advocated for pro-environment and pro-climate policies.

“I am impressed by Ms. Mercy’s leadership and perseverance in advocating concrete, ambitious, and progressive climate action. This is the highest recognition of Ms. Mercy’s significant contribution to the Indonesian nation,” said the FPCI founder.
