JABAR EKSPRES – The Riau Provincial Environment and Forestry Agency (DLHK) planted 1,000 productive plant seedlings in Sungai Manau Village, Kuantan Mudik Subdistrict, Kuantan Singingi Regency (Kuansing) Riau, Monday (19/6).
“The planting of 1,000 productive seedlings is in line with the Riau Green program initiated by Riau Governor Syamsuar and the community can get free plant seeds such as durian, sawo, kepok banana, rambutan, and matoa,” Head of DLHK Riau Mamun Murod said in his statement in Kuansing on Monday.
Mamun Murod said that every time there is a request for tree seedlings, he immediately processes them so that people can immediately plant the seedlings in their yards. These plants can hopefully increase family income.
This policy, said Mamun Murod, is in accordance with the commitment of the Riau Provincial Government in protecting protected forests in Bukit Betabuh, Kuansing, Riau, among others, also through the implementation of the social forestry program.
“Therefore, the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government is expected to immediately propose a social forestry program in the Bukit Betabuh Protected Forest area by planting durian trees, for example,” he said.
Kuantan Singingi, he said, has a local durian that has a distinctive and savory taste so that people can plant this local durian in the Bukit Betabuh Protection Forest.
In addition, he said, DLHK is now developing local durian from Bengkalis Regency and every harvest the Kuansing Regency Government holds a durian festival. Bengkalis local durian is also as delicious as durian which is already famous abroad.
