UNM Rectorate Investigates Suspected Drugs Carriers on Campus

JABAR EKSPRES – The Rectorate of Makassar State University (UNM) will immediately conduct an investigation into the person who brought suspected drugs on campus, causing the university’s reputation to be tarnished.

“Regarding the perpetrator, this needs to be emphasized, whether there are people who deliberately defame the university. We will also conduct an investigation on campus,” UNM Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Prof. Andi Muhammad Idkhan, told reporters at UNM Parangtambung Campus in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Saturday (6/10).

He hopes that the results of the internal campus investigation will be able to find out who is part of them and damage the future of students to have an impact on the image of the campus, and if found, his party is ready to help and will hand over to the police to be prosecuted.

“Hopefully we can get it too, who did it,” he said.

Regarding the findings of police officers suspected of drug trafficking in the campus environment and even mentioned that there was a drug bunker in one of the rooms until the police line was affixed, Idkhan said, it was not true.

The finding, he said, from direct observation was only a small safe planted in one of the secretariat rooms of the Faculty of Language and Literature (FBS) and not a bunker. The place has also been unused since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The room has been empty since the pandemic. Since then it has been vacated. After the incident that we got, on the same day we held a coordination meeting with all vice deans III, and conducted a closed sweep,” he said.

Regarding the closure of the campus environment after the incident, said the former Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, this was not the only time. In fact, the closure of the campus environment is carried out when there is no lecture process such as Saturday and Sunday, it is closed.
